Day 5: A Prayer for Unity

Romans 15:5-6 (ESV) May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, let's join together in a prayer for unity for our families, our churches, our workplaces, and our nation.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that it is by Your Spirit that we have the power to forgive. I know that through the fruit of Your spirit, we can overcome life's challenges and become encouragers to others around us. I thank You for calling us as Christians to be unifiers, reconcilers, and peacemakers on this earth as a display of Your love and grace in our everyday lives. I also thank You for giving us an example of true unity in the relationship of the Trinity--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I thank You for the example of Your Son, Jesus, who walked as a man in unity with You so that we, too, can be one with You. For this reason, Father, I pray for unity for <insert entity/org/nation/state>. I pray that You would not only use <insert entity/org/nation/state> to be a unifier, reconciler, and peacemaker but that the Holy Spirit would also be present every day to help <insert entity/org/nation/state> overcome with Your joy and encourage others as they follow Jesus. I pray that we may glorify You, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in unity with one heart and one mouth. Amen.
