Day 4: Prayer for Guidance

Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV) 9) And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10) so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11) filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Today is simple. Take a moment to read and meditate on the passage from Philippians, and then pray the following for your spouse, your child, yourself, or anyone else for whom you care. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide, and replace the blanks in the template below with the appropriate names!

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that Your love that Your love that was planted as a seed in <insert name>'s heart by the Holy Spirit would grow and abound. I pray that You would strengthen <insert name>'s knowledge of You and the things You have called <him/her> to do in the discernment and spiritual insight of the Holy Spirit. I pray that <insert name> can prove Your excellence by always knowing the right things to do and doing them with excellence. I pray that <he/she> will remain sincere, genuine, and honest in all <his/her> encounters with others. Help <insert name> to stay free from blame or even the appearance of evil until the day of Christ's return. Allow this to lead <him/her> to overflow with the fruits of Your righteousness, which we have because of Jesus Christ. I pray that this would make <insert name> a constant glory and praise to You under all circumstances and in all things. In Jesus' name, amen.
